BREAKING NEWS: ChatGPT Now Connects To Customer Data On HubSpot
Why today's announcement matters more than you might think

Something pretty significant happened this week that most people probably missed in their afternoon meetings.
OpenAI just announced that ChatGPT can now connect directly to your company's data sources - Google Drive, Dropbox, SharePoint, and, much to my delight, HubSpot. HubSpot became the first CRM partner in their new "Deep Research" feature.
I am so thrilled to finally be able to talk about this. This is a big day in HubSpot's 19-year history.
In today's newsletter, I'll break down:
What this actually means for the 250,000+ HubSpot customers
Why this represents a fundamental shift in business intelligence
The bigger platform play that's happening here

I'm biased, but of all the connectors announced today, the HubSpot partnership is genuinely game-changing.
Here's what just became possible:
With just a few clicks, any of HubSpot's 250,000+ customers can now bring their CRM data directly into ChatGPT and ask sophisticated research queries that would have required a dedicated data analyst just months ago.
For example: "Analyze the new contacts created in the last 90 days and surface key trends by persona, industry, and lead source, then use those insights to refine our targeting strategy."
ChatGPT can be connected into one’s HubSpot account using OAuth in just a few clicks. Once connected, ChatGPT can pull the relevant data, analyze patterns across thousands of contacts, and present actionable insights - all while respecting your existing user permissions. Individual sales reps only see their own deals, admins see everything, just like in HubSpot itself.
But here's what makes this truly powerful: you can combine this CRM analysis with web research, financial data from Google Drive, project documents from SharePoint, and more - all in a single conversation.
ChatGPT is starting to become a universal interface for all your business data. This democratizes business intelligence in a way we've never seen before.

What makes this announcement significant isn't just the capabilities - it's also the strategic positioning. OpenAI is systematically making ChatGPT the layer between humans and their digital tools.
Think about the major platform shifts we've witnessed:
Mainframe → PC
PC → Web Browser
Web Browser → Mobile
Mobile → AI OS
Each shift created massive opportunities for companies that understood how to build for the new paradigm. I think we’re watching the early stages of the "AI OS" era unfold right now.
Speaking of building for new paradigms, I'm incredibly proud of the HubSpot team's consistent innovation in this space. We've been first to several major AI milestones:
First CRM with a conversational chat interface
First with a multi-agent network and low-code agent builder (now almost 2 million users with 37,000 agents built)
First CRM with MCP Server support in public beta
And now, first CRM with a connector inside ChatGPT
I'm incredibly proud of what the HubSpot team has accomplished.

The Bigger Picture
What I think we're witnessing is the emergence of AI as the new interface layer for business software. Instead of jumping between different applications, learning different interfaces, and manually connecting data points, you have one conversational chat interface that can access everything.
It gives users a significantly better experience and more leverage from data across flagship applications in categories like CRM, ERP, HR, etc.
This feels like one of those industry developments that's obvious in hindsight but transformational in the moment.
HubSpot turns 19 years old on Monday. Like all companies, we've had our ups and downs over nearly two decades. I haven't always been great about taking time to celebrate milestones and express gratitude to those who made them possible.
So let me say this: Thank you for your support. I'm having the time of my life right now, learning every day as we build for this new age of AI.
Cheers.

PS: Fun fact — I own the os.ai domain and have already struck a deal to transfer it to another major player in the space, but can't reveal who just yet. More on that soon :)
